High Quality, Safe and Affordable…
Three things that are essential to voluntary and community groups and that are core to Moor House Adventure Centre’s ethos.
We want more people to access the outdoors and benefit from the unique potential it offers, whether that be through an adventurous activity programme or simply by being surrounded by the beauty, tranquillity and rawness of the natural environment.
So whether you are a faith group simply looking for a great venue for a youth meeting or family camp, a uniformed group such as a Girl Guide UK looking for a weekend packed full of fantastic activities or a youth group looking to explore the great outdoors Moor House Adventure Centre is the perfect venue.
Making a booking could not be easier and our team will work with you at all stages of you visit to build the perfect package and because we are so experienced at working with groups just like yours we understand what you need and we speak your language.
All of our youth based programmes are based around the key principles of Learning Outside the Classroom and the Moor House Adventure Centre Think Outside principles which are closely linked with the Every Child Matters agenda.
Our flexible approach means we can deliver as much of the programme as you like, designing a bespoke experience and taking into account your specific objectives for the trip.
Voluntary & Community Group Packages
Our bespoke packages are affordable, booking could not be easier and residential experiences can cover a range of learning outcomes and accreditations if this is required.
Participants are more engaged in the natural environment and leave with a motivation to learn more, to engage more and with new aspirations and a new attitude towards learning and possibly more importantly leaders and participants leave our centres with relationships that have strengthened.
If all you require is a base and somewhere to sleep our accommodation will be just the solution. Our packages include;
An accommodation package only that provides groups with residential accommodation whilst still being surrounded by the great outdoors. Enjoy access to the whole estate in the knowledge that when it gets a bit cold or its time to sleep that you can return to the warmth and comfort of the house.
Original Outdoor Experience
Surrounded by the natural beauty of County Durham our team of instructors will immerse participants in the outdoor environment, ensuring activities are fully resourced and a variety of teaching styles are utilised to make sure everyone will experience and develop tangible skills that are useful both in the natural world and importantly, back in the classroom.
Whether working as a team to complete our low ropes course, supporting peers overcoming fears on the leap of faith or reflecting on individual performance and adapting technique to improve accuracy in an archery session; this is the essence of what our school residential are all about.
From their base in the centre accommodation block, camp field or tented villages, pupils explore, paddle, cooperate, climb and think their way through a series of exciting skills and challenges – from high ropes and bush craft, to kayaking and mountain biking. We believe adventure is the best way to learn and that’s why we’ve packed this course full of opportunities for pupils to encounter new situations and to forge strong relationships that will benefit them in and beyond the classroom. This is an unforgettable week of fun, challenge and adventure.
Relevant learning in real life settings is what adventure is all about. However, we know that sometimes the things you need to teach require some time in the classroom too. This co-created course splits your time between self-led sessions and instructed activities. We believe in learning by doing and embedding knowledge through experience. In this course we work with you to design a programme that uses your curriculum expertise and our expertise in the outdoors to ensure that your pupils haven’t just read about it-they’ve lived it.
