Meet our team
I am responsible for the overall management and strategic development of Moor House Adventure Centre. This involves managing and developing all aspects of the centre, as well as strengthening relationships with new and existing customers. I lead the design and implementation of policies, plans and processes to ensure the continued delivery of high quality and high value services.
My background is in outdoor education, sports development and youth work. I have worked within local authorities, outdoor centres, community development projects and national charities. I started my outdoor education career over 20 years ago - delivering activities to a variety of customers. I joined Moor House Adventure Centre in 2012.
My focus now is to continue to develop the centre, and achieve our vision of being recognised as the key provider of high quality, high value adventurous and educational activities which have a positive impact on all of our customers.
I am responsible for the overall management of customer care and administration at Moor House Adventure Centre. This involves working with new and existing customers to develop bespoke, high quality and high value outdoor learning programmes. I work to ensure that our customer care before, during and after each visit is second to none.
As well as a background in administration, I have worked as the director of aquatic excellence for a private company, a swimming teacher within a secondary school, and the sports manager within a youth programme. You may even see me delivering activities at Moor House. I joined Moor House in 2013, and have worked hard to ensure that the customer journey is as smooth as possible.
I am responsible for the proactive and reactive maintenance at Moor House Adventure Centre. I ensure that the facilities are well maintained, managed and accessible to all of our customer groups. I am responsible for delivering maintenance programmes and leading the current development plan for the centre.
I joined Moor House as an apprentice in 2015 and worked as the acting estate supervisor for a year before taking the role permanently. My current focus is supporting the development programme and improving facilities around the centre.
I’ve worked for MHAC in various roles since 2008 and in the outdoor education industry since 2000. I am currently the Outdoor Education Development Officer for the Youth Investment Fund developing activities and supporting Scout groups based in Sunderland and Darlington Districts. I’m based at MHAC so if you’d like to know more about how I can help your group to develop with fun and challenging activities pop in and we can have a chat.
I gained most of my outdoor activity experience with the Armed Forces and with Moor House as an occasional helper. Moving up to become the Apprentice Instructor and have since broadened my skills in a variety of outdoor activities. I am looking forward to furthering my skills by covering a wider range of topics and to be able to deliver them to others that wish to learn.
Kevin has volunteered at Moor House Adventure Centre for over 20 years and is truly part of the centre family. Kev can be found around site most days supporting the team in a number of ways.
